Tennessee Music Box Style Dulcimers
This style of dulcimer is sometimes called a
"Church Dulcimer" or a "Box Dulcimer" as well as a Tennessee Music Box. Although
in reality the original Tennessee Music Boxes made in the 1800's were larger and
much more crude than my modern version. You can read more at this link
Tennessee Music Box. The shape of
this dulcimer adds a lot of interior space compared to a regular dulcimer, which
is great for overall sound when setup with normal DAA/DAD tuning, but also
allows it to better produce low notes making it an
excellent shape for baritones. For custom
orders a Tennessee Music Box can be
made with any combination of wood and soundholes and any of the standard options.
